GET TO KNOW ME
Personal Profile
Hello! I'm Chris Shick. I'm a native Floridian who grew up in Central Florida right in the Orlando area. My love for entertainment and themed experience comes from growing up right in the theme park capital of the world.
From a young age, I spent a lot of time at Universal Orlando and Disney World. Seeing an environment come alive either from time period inspiration or from the world of a movie, it really made me want to pursue a career where I could create environments, stories, and characters for people to enjoy the world over.
With a focus in film and production design, as well as project management for themed experiences, my goal will always be to create something that touches and inspires people and their own imaginations.

WHERE WILL YOU BE?
CONCEPT TRAILER & LIGHTING TEST / LITTLE DOVE 5 MINUTE FILM CUT
The Where Wil You Be? concept trailer is a 2 minute project where I designed and experimented with lighting setups, props, and moods I wanted to create for the full short film version, all while telling a compelling story of an advertisement for a fictional insurance company featured in the main film.
The Little Dove 5 minute cut is a director cut I created of the film that tells the story in a concise way while showing off the key aspects of the prop and set design, lighting, coloring, and overall moods I wanted to create with the story. As director, I managed and oversaw all creative aspects of the film while working with and coordinating between an amazing and very talented crew of people who each had a role in crafting one element of the story.

CONCEPT TO CONSTRUCTION
TO CREATION
Designing an elevator for Where Will You Be?
Production of Where Will You Be?, the second film I have directed, required designing and building an elevator that we could simulate breaking down and turning from regular lighting to emergency red lighting that could also serve to be a more dreamlike environment.
The gallery below shows how this part of the project began through creating inspiration decks, then drafting a digital design of the elevator including a prop budget sheet created in Excel, a lighting overhead created in Photoshop, and finally constructing it and lighting it for the scene. This represents my first successful attempt building and designing a fully fledged environment that feels real to the audience.
Below is a silent 1 minute edited segment from the film that shows the lighting and set being used dynamically in the story

LIGHTING DIRECTOR, UCF'S TEA CHAPTER ESCAPE ROOM
As a member of the University of Central Florida's chapter of TEA, (Themed Entertainment Association) I served as the lighting director for an original concept escape room themed after an old theater wardrobe that the club designed to host an escape room open for free to UCF students
As lighting director, I had to translate design drawings made in Rhino into a real, fully fledged environment with props and lighting, and make sure the environment was safe for crew and guests as well as delivered on the desired ambience for the room. The images below show the concept art translated to the physical escape room, creatively using the resources we had available
